E-Tech is our lightest membrane option, designed for cruisers and performance sailors who want maximum efficiency and structure with minimal weight. Built fiber by fiber, E-Tech sails use a custom layout of carbon and Technora (aramid) fibers, paired with a lightweight film skin, giving the sail exceptional shape retention and stretch resistance. Unlike panel-based laminates, membrane sails maintain their designed shape across a wide range of conditions—offering more control and more range, especially at tight reaching angles.
Who Should Use E-Tech
E-Tech is an excellent choice for boats over 40 feet that need serious structure in a furling reaching sail. It’s especially well-suited for cruisers and racers who want to maximize their ability to sail close to the wind in light air while still having a stable, reliable furling sail. Compared to laminate options like EVO or PXB, E-Tech offers a clear performance advantage in terms of shape-holding and responsiveness—ideal for boats that push hard, sail frequently, or value precise sail behavior across changing conditions.
What Are the Limitations of E-Tech
E-Tech membranes offer top-tier performance, but they do come at a higher price point than traditional laminate or hybrid cloths. While the sail is built for structure and longevity, sailors expecting heavy offshore use or looking for added durability should consider our Expedition membrane, which adds taffeta to one or both sides for increased abrasion resistance. For those prioritizing minimal weight and maximum responsiveness, E-Tech is an outstanding solution for cruising Code Zeros.
